As you can imagine a tad difficult to post at this altitude. Will post prose again soon when back at sea level next week. Have missed communicating with the outside world!

Beautiful people and brilliant smiles. Is that Ms. Phoebe?! What a champion. Can’t wait for your return to the island next week!
Sometimes I wonder why we left Colorado. Except when I walk downtown to VH. Then I know. Hurry home.
So hear you, Judy, on the stroll into down motif. I am salivating for my Vineyard arrival Sunday. You might tell Mr. R, that fishing at that lake down below in the photo was excellent, according to Bill, who made the trip down and back up again – a bummer. The old folks skipped that addition. Also, pass on that Bill is the owner of a new bamboo fly rod that is made by a local guy and much less expensive than what’s found at Orvis, etc.
So, wish you could visit us next year. When do you get back? I discovered a new author, well for me anyway, Tessa Hadley – English with many New Yorker published stories under her belt. I just finished The London Train and was glued to it. Currently, romping through one of her short story collections, Married Love. So taken by what Hadley says about writing in the mini autobio. she pens at the back of both ML and TLT.

Dear Pamela & Jack
The resuption of Golden Oldy reminds us that we owe a reply to Jack’s mail about the Clipper and Saint P. Apologies for the slow reply; we were assiduously goofing off in the summer heat and gettting into form for the cool fall. Nothing special to report. TV here showed ghastly scenes in Colorado; we hope you were not affected by either mud or fire, and hope you are now enjoying a beautiful New England fall back on MV. Claudine still meets with 2 groups outside of the Université Populaire but no longer teachesnthere because it has changed in charactyere, for the poorer unfortunately. I am trying to understand economics and Darwin, with oànly moderate results. Please stay in touch; we miss you. Bises.
